Reddit used to be so good but then they redesigned it, adding all kinds of algorithms to keep people engaged and it just just got worse. I don't know, maybe they are hitting their profit quota.

    how's the fediverse equivalent these days? I used to love hardware-oriented subreddits but they've become hotbeds for shilling and people posting the fresh-out-the-wrapping things they got from retail rather than anything unique

    Reddit lost me once nearly all of the subreddits became highly politicized leftist echo chambers, even ones that should have no relation to politics.

Couldn’t this be any “platform” that degrades due to the prominence of least common denominator (such as profit, or noob centricity)?

I think “digital” exclusivity could have been omitted.

Their next move should be to codify the current meaning of "slop" given it's being used so widely nowadays
